Hold on tight…I’m taking you on a spin around Paris in a Citroen 2CV! The Parisian of all Parisian mobiles! Yeay! On y va!
Ever since moving to Paris, I’ve been dying to try the little 2CV tour by the group 4 Roues Sous 1 Parapluie. The drivers wear berets and Breton t-shirts! It’s wonderfully cliché and looks like so much fun! I spotted the little 2CVs lined up in Saint Germain square a few weeks ago and decided, that’s it! The 2CV time has come. So one fine very cold and grizzly Sunday morning, after our cherished Sunday brunch (which may have included a little glass of rosé champagne to chase the chills away), we heard a beep beep outside. We looked out of our window and there was the cutest cheeky little green 2CV waiting for us. Ok, quick, grab the camera, a quick hello to Gabriel our driver…and we’re off!
Wow, this car is nippy! I love the bold cheeky colours and the sound of the engine and the screaching breaks! We’re diving in and out of lanes, flying past Concorde, speeding down little back-streets! All eyes are on the 2CV and I’m snapping left, right and centre…
We ventured down streets in Le Marais, where only a 2CV can go. You can see and feel how this car was especially designed for Paris! I learned secrets and histories of Paris whilst having this wonderfully retro perspective and a totally different view of Paris. Zoom, zoom and we are flying past Le Louvre…Slow down, can I get a pic?
Ahhh, Rive Gauche! As you know, I’m a left bank girl at heart! You might recognise the iconic railings of Le Jardin du Luxembourg and a very famous museum! Can’t wait for Spring…
A quick stop for a café in Saint Germain! And jump back in for a final spin to see our favourite girl! Well it is Paris after all!
And we’re home sweet home…so much fun! Thank you Gabriel. Can you leave the keys?!
