What’s your idea of a classic?
When I think of classic style, I think of my Dad in a black cashmere roll neck carrying a vintage leather bag to work. I think of Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole in the classic movie ‘How to steal a million’! I think of the perfect white shirt, the perfect flats and of course the little black dress! This season, I love the idea of investing in a little black dress for the party season. A great classic right ?
In search of inspiration, I’ve been flicking through the pages of Didier Ludot’s book ‘The Little Black Book, Vintage Treasure’. I love his poetic description: ‘Warn to flatter or adorn, to be demure or sexy, modest or shameless, sophisticated or minimalist, the little black dress is the eternal symbol of bewitching love!’
Didier has a wonderful boutique in the Palais Royal with a stunning collection of vintage black dresses (definitely worth checking out)! This season however, I’m feeling something with a more modern twist and Merrit’s interpretation hits all the right notes for me! It’s classically modern and totally bewitching!
