A summer picnic in Provence

One final post on Provence, I promise…Today I want to share with you some photos from a summer picnic we put together in Provence. I love picnics for their simplicity: throw a few salads together, some cheese and a bottle of rosé, head to a park or sit by the Seine and watch the sunset and voilà, it makes an evening. Our picnic in the lavender field beside the bastide in Lacoste was pretty special because of the magical light, the beautiful sunset, the backdrop and the company of course.

To set the mood, we brought out a few white picnic rugs, tea-lights and lanterns. We prepared a simple bbq with lots of hot dogs. We tossed a few salads together, some cheese, grapes from the nearby field (for effect) and some great Billecart Salmon rosé champagne (the icing on the cake). I took loads of photos and almost fell into a lavender bush in the process, but it was worth it. The idea was so simple but it made for a spectacular night…
