Strike a Pose
Vintage discoveries from the enchanting world of St Ouen continue…
‘Mon premier coup de coeur‘ in this ‘VintageTrésors’ series was inspired by the elegant panache and designs of Ms Min. Following on with the series, today I would like to introduce you to Max from ‘Laurentis Antiquités’ one of my favourite vintage fashion addresses in Paris. This little gem is situated in the chic and vibrant area of ‘Marché Paul Bert’ and just a convenient stones throw from Philippe Starck’s cosy resto Ma Cocotte in St Ouen.
What will you find? Some great ‘sought after’ classic pieces: beautiful pieces by Jill Sander when Jill was at the helm (a beautiful white blazer as above on the right). Highly sought after pieces by Yves Saint Laurent: a blazer (circa 1990) (appeared in the YSL retrospective at Le Petit Palais in 2010). A Jean Paul Gaultier Gillet, I ran away with on my last visit. Shoes as works of art like this pair above created by Louis Vuitton, (the same style worn by Madonna in concert in Paris). And to match the shoes, you can strike a pose chez vous with stunning art deco pieces, the perfect marble cabinet and quirky classy marvels for your coffee table.
What I also love about this store is the curation process: there are only a few select items carefully chosen and on display. When it comes to the buying process, whether it’s a cabinet, a gift for a loved one, or a vintage fashion piece, I really like to know the history and its origins before I buy. Knowledge is key and Max knows the exact history and origins of his collections and he will also tell you a great story and some fun anecdotes along with every piece.
So voilà, a vintage fashion address is my second coup de coeur from the wonderful world of St Ouen.Laurentis Antiquités, Marché Paul Bert, Stand 114 allée 1, 96 Rue des Rosiers 93400, St Ouen.
