Perched on the gourmet hill of Rue des Martyrs in the 9th you will find in all its delicious glory the stunning boutique of patisserie chef and food consultant Sébastien Gaudard. Taking the savoir-faire and heritage from his family’s business in the East of France, Sébastien carries through the traditions of the classic french recipes that he learned as a young boy.
‘Keeping traditions alive’, is how Sébastien describes his style and approach. This is evident from the décor, his choice of space (there was a family of patisserie chefs here before), his vision of being on site to be in touch with the clientele and the outstanding quality of his produce.
In terms of décor, an old cash register sits beside sweet holders and opposite a weighing scales. These are true originals that have been taken from his family’s business. The boutique is filled with artisanal teas, hand-made chocolates and ice-creams, fresh from the oven croissants and seasonal gifts, setting this pâtisserie apart.
Stepping into this boutique seems like stepping into the classic french traditions of the past whilst discovering the contemporary flavours of the unique Parisian pâtisserie of today. It’s easy to get carried away here…
